Honorable Mention

This is one of my, wow-this-post-is-way-over-due moments. But instead of letting it slip away, I need to share this with you.
About a month ago, my co-worker, Melissa, walked into my office and said, "have a nice weekend with your boys…." She left behind a box of Baked by Melissa cupcakes (cute, right? Melissa, Baked by Melissa, get it? OK I am moving on, but still so cute, right?) and a note: "To honor the 26 who passed away on December 14, 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, we are completing 26 random acts of kindness. You are #7."

I could't stop smiling (or feeling special!) When I got home, I burst into the apartment with the promise of treats and a blonde blur ran toward me. I told him my friend Melissa gave me these cupcakes to share with you in memory of other little boys and girls.

It was such a great moment. One that I wouldn't have had without Melissa's random act of kindness. It's totally inspired us to be kinder and pay more attention to others during every day life—holding doors, giving a fellow shopper change when they are short at the register and just the simple act of being more present for our kids.

So if you are looking to make a difference in the lives of those around you, or just looking to make someone smile, check out Because it means so much more when your good deeds are also honoring these incredible 26.
